As an iPhone user, you should have known that Apple recently launched iOS 26 with Liquid Glass, along with other new features to give users a better experience.

In iOS 26, Spatial Scenes features can change still images into dynamic, three-dimensional pictures that respond to your movements. By adding depth and subtle motion to images, this AI-powered feature can bring 3D spatial photos in your iPhone's library, and your iPhone doesn't need Apple Intelligence to make use of it.

What is Spatial Scenes feature?

Spatial Scenes is a feature which works by separating subjects from backgrounds in your images. When you move your iPhone, the foreground elements stay relatively stable while background elements shift slightly.

The feature uses generative AI to analyse your images, identifying different elements and creating depth maps. The Spatial Scenes feature is compatible with iPhone 12 or newer models.

How to create Spatial Scene on iPhone?

  • Open the Photos app.
  • Tap to view a photo, which you want to convert into a 3D spatial scene.
  • Look for the hexagon icon in the top-right corner of the photo and tap it.
  • The 3D spatial scene effect will be applied.
  • Gently tilt or move your iPhone to experience the 3D effect.
  • To turn the effect off, tap the hexagon icon again.

How to set Spatial Scene as wallpaper on iPhone?

  • On the lock screen, press and hold it.
  • Tap "Customise".
  • Tap the "+" button to add a new wallpaper.
  • Go to "Photos" or choose a photo from your camera roll.
  • Tap the hexagon icon to turn on the Spatial Scene effect for the wallpaper.
  • Tap "Done" or "Add" to set the new wallpaper.

Notably, according to Apple, users should choose images with a clear subject and a sharp background to get proper 3D spatial scenes.
