The much-awaited Apple iPhone 16 series is anticipated to debut later this year as the follow-up to its predecessor iPhone 15 lineup. Building on the features of the previous models, the new series is rumoured to introduce a dedicated capture button.
Gadgets360, citing The Information, reported that this button is designed to facilitate users when they capture images and record videos when the phone is held horizontally.
Sources familiar with Apple's development told the publication that the dedicated capture button will reportedly support touch gestures and respond to pressure.

Similar to other iPhone buttons, it will be a mechanical button, allowing users to focus images with a light press and activate the shutter with a firmer one. This feature aims to streamline the photo-capturing process, providing a more camera-like experience.
The capture button will also include swipe gestures, allowing users to swipe left and right to zoom in and out. This addition aligns with the trend seen in some Android smartphones, where the power button may serve multiple functions, such as housing a fingerprint sensor or enabling swipes for different actions.
Recent hardware upgrades were introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro models, including the Action button replacing the mute switch. Looking ahead, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to feature enhanced ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras, as predicted by TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
More details about the iPhone 16 series are anticipated to be revealed in the coming months.
