As the internet has long been buzzing with reports suggesting Elon Musk's inclination towards the acquisition of TikTok, the tech billionaire has clarified the situation, stating that he isn't interested in buying the renowned short-video platform.

Rumours surrounding the Chinese social media platform's acquisition by Musk began emerging shortly after the platform was banned in the US after a ban came into effect, requiring ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, to divest from the app or face a ban.

Citing a report released by The WELT Group, a sister organisation of the German media outlet Axel Springer SE, Reuters noted that Musk made the above-mentioned comments during a summit hosted by the German media company.

"I have not put in a bid for TikTok," said Musk a week after US President Donald Trump expressed his approval for Musk buying the widely used video platform out of his own will.

"I don't have any plans for what I would do if I had TikTok," he added.

It's worth mentioning that Musk does not use the app, nor was he personally aware of its content format.

"I'm not chomping at the bit to acquire TikTok; I do not acquire companies in general; it's quite rare," Musk clarified.

Regarding the acquisition of X (formerly Twitter), he explained that it was unusual.
