Tech behemoths Samsung and Apple have introduced new app icon customisation features for their operating systems in an effort to improve user experience.
Gadinsider has got you a detailed guide to customising your Home Screen on iOS and Android devices using the newest app icon customisation techniques.
How to change your app icons on iOS:
An important update allows iOS users to alter the colour, tint, size, and removal of the app name of the app icons and widgets on their Home Screen.
- Take these actions to get these features:
- Go to the Home Screen.
- Touch and hold the Home Screen background until the icons begin to jiggle.
- Tap Edit at the top of the screen, then choose Customise.
- Select from a variety of choices, such as enlarging icons, choosing a light or dark appearance, and applying a colour tint.
How to change your app icons on Android:
The One UI theme manager also allows Android users, especially those with Samsung devices, to customise their app icons.
To change an app's icon on a Samsung Galaxy phone, follow these steps:
- Go to the Settings menu and choose "Themes".
- Navigate through the featured and top icon packs by tapping the "Icons" tab at the bottom.
- Download and install the preferred icon pack; keep in mind that some might need to be purchased.
Additionally, enhanced customisation options, such as the ability to use third-party launchers with integrated icon pack support, are available to advanced users of Samsung's One UI 6 or later.
Users can also apply third-party icon packs from the Google Play Store to all apps using the Good Lock module.
