In the backdrop of a rise in gambling and deceptive trading apps in the country, Pakistan's cybercrime agency has declared 46 mobile applications illegal in a bid to tackle unregulated trading, and data privacy violations.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) announced that these apps operate against national laws, facilitating illegal betting, casino games, and unlicensed forex and binary trading.

Major among the banned gambling apps in Pakistan include 1xBet, Chicken Road, Aviator Games, Dafabet, 22Bet, Casumo, Rabona, 10Cric, Plinko, and Bet365, most of which are popular in the region beyond Pakistan.

The NCCIA also identified unregulated forex and binary trading platforms, warning that these could lead to financial scams and illegal money transfers owing to insufficient oversight.

Besides, several apps were found illicitly accessing citizens' personal data, including SIM card and mobile number information. This discovery highlights the grave concerns about privacy breaches, data misuse, and identity theft.

The national cybercrime body has requested the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block access to these applications immediately.

The public has also been urged to be wary of similar unverified apps that could compromise their financial security and personal information.
