Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced to put an end to its cross-platform messaging service that allows you to simultaneously manage the chats of your Facebook and Instagram accounts.
The announcement was made on, 9to5Google, the newly developed Instagram support page. The photo and video-sharing app informed its users that its cross-platform messaging service which allows you to message accounts on Facebook from your Instagram account will soon be discontinued.
The cross-platform communication service was introduced by the company three years ago in 2020. However, with this unfortunate development, users will have to use the app whose friends they would like to chat with.

The company, without specifying a reason, has announced a decision that comes on the heels of its anticipated timeline for implementing default end-to-end encryption on Messenger by the end of the year.
A recent update on the support page of Instagram indicates that cross-app communication chats will be disabled by mid-December, rendering ongoing chats read-only.
Meta clarified that existing cross-platform chats won't automatically transfer, and starting new chats between Facebook Messenger and Instagram will be impossible.
It should be noted that features such as online status and message seen indicators will be discontinued between the platforms. While Meta hasn't disclosed the reason for this change, it coincides with expectations of introducing default end-to-end encryption on Messenger.
The company is "on track to launch default E2EE for one-to-one friends and family chats on Messenger by the end of the year," stated a statement released by Meta in August this year.
The company is expected to add a feature that will enable encrypted chats that remain private between the sender and recipient, with the company having no access, except in cases where participants report the chats.
However, the company currently offers end-to-end encryption for chats on WhatsApp.
