Microsoft is bringing big updates to the Xbox mobile app for Android and iOS, giving users more control and flexibility while gaming on the go.

The company has confirmed that players will soon be able to buy Xbox games directly from the app, including Game Pass titles, add-ons, and in-game perks.

Microsoft's new feature in Xbox game app

This new feature will enable Xbox owners to buy games whether they are playing on console or through cloud gaming. Microsoft indicates that the update will be released initially as a beta and later reach all users in the next few weeks.

In addition to game purchasing, Microsoft is also transforming the way Xbox Remote Play operates. The feature, which allows users to stream games from their console onto other devices, is now coming to the web.

This allows players to access their consoles through a browser on phones, tablets, or computers, even on Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and Meta Quest headsets.

In a surprise turn of events, Microsoft is dropping Remote Play from the Xbox mobile app and instead concentrating on supporting more platforms. Remote Play is also compatible with old games from the original Xbox and Xbox 360.

The company made several other improvements as well. Fans can currently stream bought games using Cloud Gaming on Xbox consoles.

Additionally, the app will have additional games under the "Stream Your Own Game" feature. Xbox consoles are also receiving a "free up space" option for improved storage management, and game hubs are being refreshed for a better experience.
