Microsoft has unveiled a macOS app for “Copilot,” its free generative AI chatbot, in the US, the UK, and Canada.

This launch comes shortly after Microsoft made Copilot Voice and Think Deeper free with unlimited use.

Earlier, both Think Deeper and Voice in Copilot were available to free users but with limited features.

Launched in 2023, Copilot has been available on Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari web browsers. It rolled out on Android, iOS, and iPadOS devices in early 2024.

It is designed to assist users in various tasks, such as drafting emails, summarising documents, or writing cover letters.

Similar to the Windows app, the Copilot app for Mac will provide access to the web-based version of Microsoft’s AI assistant.

The macOS version of Copilot includes a dark mode and a shortcut command to activate the AI assistant by using Command + Space, similar to the Alt + Space on the Windows version.

Now, users will be able to log into Copilot on an iPhone or an iPad using an Apple ID. Similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and other AI chatbots, Copilot enables users to upload text or PDF files to ask questions about the documents and receive responses generated by AI.

It should be noted that the document summarisation feature will also be available on the macOS app in the coming days.

However, to work, the macOS app requires macOS 14.0 or later and a Mac model with an Apple M1 chip or later.
