Netflix, a popular streaming service, has confirmed a deal with the National Football League (NFL) to stream games on Christmas Day. The rumours about this deal have been rolling out for a long time but finally, it was confirmed today. This will be the first time that the streaming service giant is going to broadcast live NFL game.
Netflix's Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, in the announcement post, said: “Last year, we decided to take a big bet on live — tapping into massive fandoms across comedy, reality TV, sports, and more. There are no live annual events, sports or otherwise, that compare with the audiences NFL football attracts. We’re so excited that the NFL’s Christmas Day games will be only on Netflix.”

Meanwhile, NFL’s Executive Vice President of Media Distribution Hans Schroeder said: “We couldn’t be more excited to be the first professional sports league to partner with Netflix to bring live games to fans around the world. The NFL on Christmas has become a tradition and to partner with Netflix, a service whose biggest day of the year is typically this holiday, is the perfect combination to grow this event globally for NFL fans.”
However, the four teams that will be involved in these two Netflix streamed matches have not yet been announced and will be revealed today at 8pm ET / 5pm PT after the confirmation of the 2024 schedule by the NFL. While this is exciting news for football lovers to watch the NFL on Netflix, however, it may cost them more than before.
