Netflix is set to end support for some old iPhone and iPad models, meaning the company will no longer provide new updates, features, and bug fixes compatible with devices running iOS 16.

Previously, the streaming services discontinued its app for the second and third-generation models of Apple TV devices in July 2024. Now, with the latest update to the app for iOS, Netflix has warned users about the end of support for iOS 16.

An alert on devices running Netflix on iOS 16 stated, “We’ve updated the Netflix app, to use the latest version, install iOS 17 or later.”

As a result, devices including the iPhone X and the first-generation iPad Pro are among those that cannot be updated to iOS 17 and will no longer run the latest version of Netflix. Similarly, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus owners will not be able to update to the version of the app.

Netflix not working on THESE devices

A list of Apple devices that are set to lose support for running Netflix includes:

  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone X
  • iPad Pro (1st generation)
  • iPad (5th generation)

Currently, it is unknown which update will end support for the above Apple devices. However, if you are a Netflix user and have one of these devices, it's time to upgrade to newer models that are intact from any impact of this decision.
