iPhone 16's Camera Control

One of the major camera-related upgrades on the iPhone 16 lineup announced at Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event is the “Camera Control” feature designed to make it easier for users to get photos and videos.

The new camera button is touch and force-sensitive and supports swipes and other gestures for swapping through camera options.

A single click on the button opens the camera, a second click captures a picture, while a click-and-hold starts recording a video.

Moreover, a light press opens up control options such as Zoom, and users can swap tools with a double light press. Parameters like zoom and exposure can be adjusted with a swipe.

The tech giant also introduced an Apple Intelligence feature called Visual Intelligence that will allow iPhone 16 users to point the camera at something and get information about it.

Fusion mode on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus

iPhone 16’s standard models are equipped with 48MP Fusion mode allowing users to crop into the 1x image and get a 24MP 2x photo.

These devices take multiple 48MP photos and blend into a single 24MP image taking details, shadows and highlights from frames to get the best possible shot.

48MP Ultra Wide lens on iPhone 16 Pro, Pro Max

The 48MP Ultra Wide lens is exclusive to both the two Pro models, bringing resolution to the Ultra Wide camera as used in the main camera and providing significantly better quality results.

Spatial photos and videos on iPhone 16

The new iPhone 16 series can now shoot spatial photos and videos. In this way, Vision Pro won’t be the only device able to view Spatial Video.

iPhone 16's Audio Mix video feature

Audio Mix is a video feature on the iPhone 16 lineup that takes advantage of the Spatial Audio capture feature. Users can now adjust the way their voices sound in videos, using three options.

In-frame

Captures voices of people on camera, even if people off camera are talking.

Studio

The Studio makes voices sound like the video was recorded in a professional studio with sound-dampening walls. It sounds like the mic was close to the subject's mouth.

Cinematic

It provides a theatre-like experience by capturing all sounds and combining them to the front of the screen similar to how sound is formatted for movies.
