Nothing Phone 1, which currently operates stable Android 13-based Nothing OS 1.5, is now receiving an update with the Android 14-based stable Nothing OS 2.5.

Nothing, the company behind the phone, has announced that the update brings enhancements across various features, including the signature Glyph Interface, introducing new customisations and gestures to enhance user experiences on the handset. The Nothing Phone 1 was launched in India in July 2022.

The detailed changelog for the Nothing OS 2.5 update reveals several improvements. The joint Home and Lock Screen customisation page has been redesigned, offering a more comprehensive options view for editing wallpapers.

A new Atmosphere wallpaper effect transforms the background image into a dynamic wallpaper with seamless transitions between the lock and home screen. The update also introduces a monochrome theme to the basic colour section and offers solid colour wallpapers.

According to Gadgets360, the Glyph Interface receives enhancements, providing direct access to the Interface's Music Visualisation feature and an improved Glyph light playback effect during device audio synchronisation. The update introduces a new Glyph animation to notify NFC use and improves the Flip to Glyph experience.

With the stable Nothing OS 2.5 update, users of the Nothing Phone 1 can customise the double-press power button gesture for quick access to any feature. New Lock Screen shortcut options include Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR code scanner, and video camera.

A three-finger swipe gesture for a screenshot is added, along with a new screenshot editor and menu. Continuous screenshots now automatically exclude a preview of the previous screenshot. The back gesture arrow visual has been redesigned.

This update includes an updated Quick Settings layout that can display more device icons and supports switching ring modes and setting the network. Pedometer, Media Player, and Screen Time widgets are added, and users can customise ringtone and notification sound volumes separately.

The Nothing OS 2.5 update claims to provide optimised camera stability, overall smoothness, responsiveness, improved system stability, and battery life.
