Pakistan’s automobile industry has achieved a new milestone, exporting 434 locally assembled vehicles to 20 countries over the past three fiscal years, according to data shared in the Senate.
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb revealed the numbers in response to a question from Senator Shahadat Awan. The vehicles, some with varying engine capacities, are shipped to Japan, Afghanistan, Qatar, the UAE, Thailand, Lebanon, Liberia, Kenya, the Solomon Islands, Nigeria, the US, Djibouti, Mozambique, the Cayman Islands, Sri Lanka, China, Brunei Darussalam, Ghana, Togo, and Bangladesh.
Official data shows an upward trend in quantity and value over the years. In FY23, Pakistan exported 100 vehicles worth Rs94.7 million. This rose to 107 vehicles worth Rs388.2 million in FY24, and FY25 had the strongest exports with 227 vehicles worth Rs 936.9 million.
Eight local manufacturers made these exports possible, including Pak Suzuki Motor Company Ltd., Sazgar Engineering Works Ltd., Honda Atlas Cars, United Auto Industries, Lucky Motor Corporation, Hyundai Nishat Motors, Master Changan Motors, and Indus Motor Company.
Reportedly, the surge in exports in Pakistan is due to its increased capability of automobile manufacturing, and the foreign market is beginning to recognise locally manufactured vehicles. Experts feel this is a significant first step to reduce the trade deficit and strengthen Pakistan's position in the regional auto market.
