The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Thursday issued a notification that a fault has been reported in the submarine cable AAE-1 near Qatar (one of the seven international undersea cables connecting Pakistan for international internet traffic).

The PTA warned the issue may impact internet and broadband user experience across Pakistan.

It is important to note that people across the country have experienced internet outage, along with serious interruptions in online connectivity, which adversely impacted their various tasks.

Recently, in a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology (IT), PTA Chairman Retd. Major General Hafeezur Rehman made a significant statement about the throttling of internet services across the country.

The PTA assured that the concerned teams are working to fix the fault. The PTA is monitoring the situation and will keep updating telecom users accordingly.
