The satellite orbits Earth at 38.2 East, approximately 38,786 km above the Earth's surface, according to SUPARCO’s spokesperson.
The satellite's solar panels are now fully functional, and various tests will be conducted to check the condition of the satellite in orbit, the spokesperson added.
However, weighing five tonnes, PAKSAT-MM1 is equipped with the latest communication technology, enabling high-speed services.
Expected to remain operational for over 15 years, the satellite will provide essential services, including mobile phone service, television broadcasting, community internet, and tele-education.
This will promote Pakistan’s local industries and enhance internet connectivity in remote areas, aligning with the government's objective of Digital Pakistan.
Notably, Pakistan has made significant progress in the United Nations E-Governance Development Index, securing 136th position, up 14 places from its previous rank of 150 in 2022.
