T-Mobile and Starlink have expanded their satellite messaging beta to include Pixel 9 series phones, giving users access to messaging services even without a mobile network.
This feature is already available for Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and recent iPhones.
Pixel 9 series joins T-Mobile’s Starlink beta
The T-Mobile-Starlink partnership aims to provide satellite coverage for smartphones, helping users stay connected in areas without cellular service.
The beta test includes satellite messaging and emergency SOS, which allows users to contact emergency services when there is no signal. However, regular texting won’t work in SOS mode.
Moreover, the feature activates only when your phone loses mobile network coverage and cannot be triggered manually.
Users on the Pixel 9 series running Android 15 report that satellite messaging was automatically enabled under T-Mobile settings. This means eligible users can use T-Mobile’s satellite phone service without additional setup.
