Google is rolling out the latest Pixel Camera 10.2 update, and the company has restored the original brightness and shadow controls, reversing the design changes introduced earlier this year.

The update is being gradually rolled out to users through the Play Store, although the rollout is not yet widespread.

Quick access controls were first introduced last year to make camera adjustments faster and more intuitive. With a single tap on the viewfinder, users could access sliders placed on both sides of the screen to adjust white balance, brightness, and shadows.

With the Material 3 Expressive redesign that rolled out in the Pixel Camera 10.1 this October, however, Google flipped the order of those controls: Shadows appeared first, followed by brightness, and the drag-handle icons were replaced to reflect Google's new visual style. The redesign was polarising, with many users still preferring the older layout.

Pixel Camera 10.2 sees Google revert to the old layout, where brightness now appears first, followed by shadows, and the overall UI matches the previous iteration that users were accustomed to.

According to the update notes for the December 2025 system update, Google also included "general improvements for camera stability under certain conditions" for the Pixel 9 series up to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Pixel Camera version 10.2.095.834499094.08 is rolling out in stages, so users may get the update within a couple of days.
