Google has announced a substantial Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast update for Pixel devices that will allow Pixel 8 and up phones to stream audio to multiple headphones at once.

The newest feature allows you to pair two headphones at once, which will be great for sharing music on a bus ride or for watching shows together on a plane.

Pixel phones will even stream private broadcasts that can be shared with others via QR codes or Fast Pair, making it easy to connect a whole room to the same audio stream.

Unfortunately, the feature requires supporting headphones that are LE Audio compliant. Google has confirmed a variety of expanded support for Sony models, including LinkBuds S, WF-1000XM5, InZone Buds, LinkBuds Open, LinkBuds Fit, WH-1000XM6, and InZone H9 II. Support is also provided for hearing aids, other Samsung Galaxy phones, and selected Xiaomi models.

In addition to this update, Google is also adding Adaptive Audio to the Pixel Buds Pro 2. This combines active noise cancellation and awareness of your surroundings so that you can stay safe while blocking unwanted background noise.

The earbuds also have added loud noise protection to protect listeners from loud, sudden sounds like alarms or cars honking
