As Google has announced to pull the plug on its VPN by Google One, a replacement have begun discreetly making its way to select Pixel phones.

Android 14, Android 15 support Pixel VPN by Google

According to 9to5Google, users of Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, and Pixel Fold are reportedly observing “Pixel VPN by Google” on Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.2 or Android 15 Beta 2.2.

Following the announcement of VPN by Google One's termination, Pixel users claim to have received an error that said “VPN by Google One isn’t available for this account” while opening the app last week.

When is VPN by Google One shutting down

However, beyond the delight needed to soothe users' frayed nerves is that Google has brought a substitute even before the schedule when it's going to kill its very own VPN by Google One on June 20.

The functionality of the Pixel VPN by Google resembles with that of Pixel 8, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a, with the exception of the notification that was consistent in annoying, as users now only have that VPN key appearing atop the status bar.

“This version of VPN by Google One is optimised for the best performance on Pixel and provides a fully integrated experience in your phone’s settings,” Google added.
