
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited the National Earthquake Simulation Centre at Tianjin University, where he appreciated the advanced technologies China uses to manage natural disasters.
The prime minister explained that modern strategies implemented by China can greatly help Pakistan combat natural disasters and allow it to develop precautionary steps as well as response procedures which will be more effective.
He emphasised the importance of enhancing projects such as the International Medical Centre and the China-Pakistan Joint Lab in the area of disaster management, urging a much greater collaboration between the two national entities.
Referencing the recent flood disaster in Pakistan, Sharif said full relief is being conducted at a national level and reported that some additional consignments for the families affected have been dispatched for families affected in Narowal, Sialkot, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Chiniot, and Jhang, which will be handed over to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The prime minister instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to have its operational demands professionally directed by the provincial government and respond to provincial relief efforts in a proactive way.
He said that assistance to the families affected will continue without disruptions.
While at the Centre, PM learnt about all of the disaster management and rescue technologies, including frontline medical rescue vehicles and precautionary innovative systems.
He was informed that several joint projects between China and Pakistan were already operational, with many others under development.
These include the China-Pakistan Joint Lab for Disaster and Emergency Medicine under the Belt and Road Initiative, the International Medical Cooperation Centre, and the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital.
