In a major milestone, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) declared that 98% of Karachi's telecom sites that had been rendered inoperable by the recent heavy rains had been brought back online in less than 72 hours.

Official figures show that the bad weather had a negative impact on 2,764 telecom sites, causing thousands of residents to experience widespread disruptions in their communication services.

However, 2,707 sites have been successfully restored as a result of the PTA and telecom operators' combined efforts, and the remaining 57 sites should be back online soon.

This impressive recovery rate has been made possible in large part by the PTA's prompt action and efficient cooperation with local government and telecom providers.

According to PTA officials, "the quick recovery demonstrates a strong commitment to ensuring uninterrupted communication services, even under extreme weather conditions."

The public has received assurances from the authority that it is keeping a careful eye on the situation and is making every effort to restore full connectivity as soon as possible.

"To speed up restoration efforts, PTA teams collaborated closely with telecom operators and local administrations, offering continuous support on the ground," officials continued.
