As Pakistan is gearing up to welcome globally popular satellite internet services like Elon Musk's Starlink and Amazon's Kuiper, the country has introduced new licence conditions for satellite internet companies operating in the country.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has mandated that internet service providers establish Earth gateway stations to obtain licences for satellite internet services.
Citing sources, Samaa.Tv outlined that these companies are required to adhere to Pakistan's geographical limitations, meaning foreign entities will no longer be allowed to host the country's data.
Which satellite internet services are coming to Pakistan?
This development coincides with the trend of enhancing satellite broadband services in Pakistan. In the wake of this trend, American company Amazon Kuiper, following in the footsteps of Starlink, has expressed interest in launching its satellite broadband service in the country.
Besides, two Chinese companies, along with another international firm, have also shown interest in bringing their satellite internet services to Pakistan.
With these developments in place, the expanding satellite internet access will let netizens across Pakistan benefit from the service.
