Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that Punjab will adopt Japan’s advanced healthcare and treatment management system. This will stimulate the development of advanced medical technology and treatment models in Punjab’s public health sector.
While on an official visit to Japan, the chief minister toured the National Centre for Global Health and Medicine, an internationally recognised hospital specialising in infectious diseases.
She visited various departments in the hospital, reviewed the equipment, and held meetings with Japanese medical professionals to learn about the treatment of diabetes, liver diseases, and other infectious diseases.
As part of this initiative, modern Japanese equipment, devices, and treatment methods will be incorporated into the hospitals in Punjab. CM also confirmed that the proposed Nawaz Sharif Medical District will be designed along the lines of Japan’s health model, which is applicable to modern-day practices and has no doubt made Japan a dubious leader in advanced patient-care strategies in the world.
Moreover, Punjab will soon launch its health insurance system based upon Japan's health insurance system that will offer patients access to care and financial protection.
Additionally, both parties agreed to work collaboratively on the proposed areas of medical research into diabetes, treatments for liver problems, and infectious disease treatment that is applicable to Japan's healthcare model.
Speaking after the visit, chief minister highlighted that Punjab’s healthcare system will benefit greatly from Japanese innovation. “We aim to equip our hospitals with modern technology and provide world-class healthcare services to our people,” she said.
The delegation from Punjab received detailed briefings on Japan’s latest healthcare solutions, which will now serve as a model for upcoming reforms.
