The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has firmly rejected allegations circulating on social media platforms regarding Jazz charging its subscribers more than the official tariffs approved by the regulator during the 2023-24 financial year.
In a clarification issued on Friday, PTA said the allegations included in the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) report were "inaccurate" and did not accurately represent regulatory activity.
“No such overcharging has taken place. The tariff adjustments highlighted in the audit observations were duly approved by PTA in line with the prescribed regulatory framework,” the statement read.
PTA also mentioned that all appropriate correspondence that demonstrated these approvals was shared with audit authorities for their review.
PTA reiterated its role in protecting customers and the marketplace, stating that it would maintain oversight of all operators’ tariffs to prevent regulatory violations and anti-competitive practices.
