The Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) of Punjab has issued a high-priority advisory warning all Apple users in Pakistan to update their devices immediately.
The advisory warns that failing to apply the latest Apple security updates could expose iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other Apple products to a significant risk of attack.
According to Punjab CERT, the vulnerabilities target a variety of Apple operating systems and devices. If these vulnerabilities are left unpatched, any attacker may compromise devices, exfiltrate personal or official data, and bypass privacy controls. Hackers could even make applications unexpectedly crash.
If you do not update, we are essentially leaving "the door" open for cybercriminals to obtain sensitive information.
The advisory also detailed the fix that Apple has provided in the latest updates for several issues. The most serious was CVE-2025-31229, which was a logic issue that used improved checks to fix.
Another critical issue, CVE-2025-43222, was a “use-after-free” issue, which was fixed by deleting the code that was at risk.
Other vulnerabilities that were discovered included microphone and camera privacy indicators (CVE-2025-43217) and app crashes due to unexpected file parsing (CVE-2025-43186).
Latest software updates are available in iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, macOS Sequoia 15.6, macOS Sonoma 14.7.7, macOS Ventura 13.7.7, watchOS 11.6, tvOS 18.6, visionOS 2.6, iPad 17.79, and Safari 18.6.
Punjab CERT has labelled the threat as “major” and warned that delaying updates could expose users to severe consequences, including full device takeover by attackers.
Cybersecurity experts say these vulnerabilities are not only a personal risk but also a threat to national digital infrastructure. Punjab CERT has urged users and administrators to update immediately and directed them to its official website for detailed guidance. For direct assistance, users can also email [email protected].
