The Punjab Environment Department (EPD) has started taking severe action against cars without green stickers since the August 31 deadline has passed.

Owners of vehicles made between 2010 and 2015 are receiving warning slips and e-challans as part of the first phase, according to department spokesperson Sajid Bashir.

Fines and legal action will result from repeated infractions.

In cities, the Punjab Environment Agency (EPA), operating under EPD, inspects the emissions from petrol and diesel cars. Only cars that pass the emission test are eligible for the green stickers, which have been given to about 350,000 vehicles so far.

The engine, silencer, and catalytic converter are all inspected to make sure environmental regulations are being followed.

Vehicles without a green sticker will not be permitted to enter or operate in Lahore during the smog season, Sajid Bashir warned.

"The cost to acquire the green sticker will be disclosed shortly," he continued. The goal of this project is to lessen vehicle pollution and encourage a cleaner local environment.

The department is enforcing the rules gradually, beginning with e-challans and warning slips. Repeat offenders, however, will be subject to harsher punishments.

The government's initiatives to reduce air pollution and enhance public health include the green sticker program.

The department aims to lessen the detrimental effects of vehicle pollution on the environment and public health by making sure that vehicles adhere to emission standards.
