The Punjab government has launched the first fleet of 30 electric buses for Faisalabad on Sunday as part of a green initiative to reduce air pollution.

According to a district administration spokesman, the service, operating on seven designated routes, is set for a formal inauguration by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in the coming days.

According to the spokesman, the bus depots have been established at Ghulam Muhammad Abad, Sargodha Road and Gattwala Road to facilitate smooth operations.

Initially, 30 buses have arrived in Faisalabad to mark the beginning of a major transformation in the public transport system of the city.

He said that the introduction of electric buses would not only advance the quality of public transportation but also significantly cut down fuel expenses.

The electric bus service marks a significant milestone for Faisalabad, providing fast, comfortable, and affordable travel options.

Last week, the chief minister launched the electric bus service in Sargodha, which will have a separate section for women with CCTV cameras. Moreover, differently abled persons, women, senior citizens, and students could travel completely free of cost.

By introducing electric buses, the provincial government aims to provide modern, safe and affordable transport facilities to the masses.
