Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched the electric bus service in Sargodha on Friday, which will provide senior citizens and students with special benefits.
At the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister said that in Pakistan, it has been a tradition to begin development and major projects from big cities, where progress used to both start and end.
Moreover, the development initiatives will commence in smaller cities and gradually expand nationwide, ensuring inclusive growth and equitable distribution of resources.
She highlighted that Sargodha never had a proper public transport system, which was distressing to see, as passengers were often forced to sit on the roofs of buses and women had to travel in great discomfort.
The chief minister said that today, a modern, dignified, and comfortable mode of travel for the people has been introduced, which will facilitate citizens.
The electric buses have a separate section for women with CCTV cameras. Moreover, differently abled persons, women, senior citizens, and students could travel completely free of cost.
