Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday inaugurated the province’s first mobile police station and licensing unit, a project designed to bring key policing and licensing services directly to citizens, especially in remote and underserved areas.
According to officials, the mobile units will provide a variety of services, including FIR registration, issuance and renewal of learner, regular and international driving licences, as well as women-specific licensing services.

The effort aims to promote girls’ education centres and working women in the area by increasing access to vital government services.
While at the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister briefly toured the mobile police station before formally handing over its keys to the officers.
She had been informed that soon there will be a total of 33 mobile police stations and mobile licensing units roaming the streets of Punjab in order to expand the outreach and service to the citizens.
The officials also informed CM about the seven “Pink” mobile police stations that would run entirely with female officers to give a satisfied and safe experience for women requiring assistance.
The schedule for the movement of the mobile unit will be made publicly available so that people will know when services will be available to them in their area.
The chief minister has also directed officials to ensure that all traffic police officers and members of the ‘Suthra Punjab’ teams will wear facial masks, as the smog levels in the province have risen. She further pointed out that senior officials were necessary to enforce this safety rule.
The new introduction of the mobile police and licensing units is an addition to the Punjab government’s broader efforts to make provincial services accessible, inclusive, and responsive to citizens' needs.
