The Punjab government on Friday launched a new app, the Assistive Devices & Wheelchair (ADWC), that will help facilitate people with disabilities across the province.
The ADWC app — developed on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz — allows differently-abled citizens to apply online from home for essential mobility and support equipment, including wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, hearing aids, and mobility aids.
Once processed and approved by the relevant authority, the devices will be delivered to the applicant's home, ensuring ease, transparency, and trust.
A Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal department spokesperson said: "The AWDC app shows the Punjab government's commitment to digital empowerment and equal access for differently-abled citizens."
According to officials, the platform has already received over 38,600 applications, with 11,200 approvals, and 7,000 devices delivered across 36 districts.
The AWDC helpline (1312) and official website are now operational for public assistance. The department has also instructed all field officers to help register applicants and launch awareness drives across Punjab.
