In a bid to stay competitive against the existing and emerging rivals in the realm of high-end smartphones, Samsung has closed the chapter of one of its most-selling flagship foldable phones.

The company has ended software support for the $1,900 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, meaning that those having borne a considerably hefty toll of money on the device will left in the lurch.

Little can we take from the development is that the device was launched only four years ago which is more than enough to stir a sense of echo-friendliness in the company.

Galaxy Z Fold 2 won't get new software update

Samsung's farewell to the device was bid in a list it updated to jot down the devices it will go with further software updates.

According to Android Police, the list also entailed Samsung flagships for which the company has promised four years of Android and OneUI updates and five years of security updates.

The promise seems to have been fulfilled in 2022, with the Z Fold 2 having approached the end of the four-year course.

While there has been no official announcement to which Samsung attributed its striking blow to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, it might have stemmed from the consistently evolving market of foldable phones, with new entrants joining from Google and OnePlus.
