Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has officially announced that it will begin making Tank 500 in Pakistan by March 31, 2026

In conjunction with the launch of the Tank 500 in Pakistan, Sazgar Engineering intends to concurrently manufacture the locally assembled Cannon PHEV within the same timeframe.

The company announced the launch in the company’s 2025 annual report, released last week. According to the report, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited sold 10,889 units in 2025, up from 5,392 units in 2024.

This represents an increase of over 101% year-over-year, indicating signs of recovery in the local automotive market compared to the previous fiscal year.

Sazgar Engineering's expansion plans in Pakistan

Notably, the company’s new investments are being made in line with the government’s New Energy Vehicle (NEV) policy, which has placed pressure on automakers to shift towards cleaner technologies.

For that, Sazgar Pakistan has approved new investments to support the NEV programme

  • Acquisition of land worth Rs1.54 billion
  • Expansion of four-wheeler manufacturing facilities
  • Revised cost estimate of Rs11.50 billion (excluding land cost)

According to Sazgar Engineering, the new facilities will focus on the manufacturing of New Energy Vehicles, with CKD models planned before the end of March 2026.
