The government of Sindh has officially announced an ambitious plan to launch electric vehicle (EV) taxis for unemployed youth in the province. This initiative is set to promote eco-friendly transportation and create employment opportunities, making EV taxis available on easy installment plans.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon stated that the government is committed to addressing unemployment while prioritising sustainable development. By offering unemployed individuals an opportunity to purchase and operate EV taxis, the initiative aims to provide a stable source of income for many families.
Discussing the importance of peace, stability, and innovative solutions, Memon also emphasised that the government is open to collaborative partnerships that contribute to the nation’s progress.
In preparation for the programme, Memon directed the Secretary of Transport to collaborate with financial institutions and officials from an EV taxi company based in Karachi. Recently, in a meeting, the company presented their environmentally friendly EV taxi project, which includes an installment-based ownership scheme.
This initiative showcases the Sindh government’s dual commitment to tackling unemployment and addressing environmental challenges.
The introduction of EV taxis not only aligns with global trends toward sustainable mobility but also displays a proactive approach to supporting youth and fostering economic resilience.
The program is claimed to start soon, with additional details about installment plans and eligibility criteria to be revealed in the coming weeks.
