Elon Musk, Chief Executive Officer of SpaceX and Tesla and owner of X, has claimed that smartphones will be replaced by Neuralink devices soon.
A parody account named Not Elon Musk shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) asking the users: “Would you install a Neuralink interface on your brain to allow you to control your new X phone by thinking.”
Responding to the post the tech billionaire wrote: “In the future, there will be no phones, just Neuralinks. It is a technology company building a device "designed to connect human brains directly to computers".
In January 2024, after years of trial on animals, Neuralink implanted its first brain-computer interface (BCI) in the brain of Noland Arbaugh, 29, who was paralysed due to an accident eight years ago.
After the chip’s implantation, Arbaugh was able to play games using his brain as well as move mouse cursors.
