Millions of users could not access Snapchat on Sunday when the app experienced a significant global outage, impacting users in Pakistan, the UK, France, and other nations.

As reported by Downdetector, more than half of the impacted users reported being logged out of their accounts. Some others were not able to share or upload pictures and videos on the app.

In Pakistan, 52% of the users were unable to open the app, 28% were experiencing sharing issues, and 19% could not upload content as of 6pm.

Snapchat down in worldwide

Snapchat, a popular social networking app that allows one to send videos and photos and chat with friends, has been used extensively by youth all over the globe. The abrupt shutdown left users puzzled and agitated.

Until now, Snapchat has not issued an official reason for the problem. Experts suggest that the issue may be a server-side glitch or a bug in the recent update.

Moreover, a few users complained that by connecting through a VPN, they were able to access the app, which means the problem could be region-specific or due to blocked server access.

Downdetector's heat map indicated that there were huge disruptions across many parts of the globe. The website only displays outages when reports exceed a normal level, and evidently, it did so in this instance.

Snapchat's outage has sent people talking online, and the majority of them are using X or other sites to air their complaints. Until Snapchat resolves this issue, users in Pakistan and globally are still experiencing issues with the app.
