Sony Honda Mobility has officially launched its first electric vehicle (EV), the Afeela 1, at CES 2025, as a result of a joint venture between Sony Group Corporation and Honda Motor Company.

The vehicle combines several top-notch features integrated with connected car technologies, promising to deliver a redefined EV experience.

The Afeela 1 is powered by advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and houses over 40 sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, and radars, ensuring an enhanced and secure driving experience. It offers a claimed range of 480 km on a single charge and features a 3D Motion Management System for a smoother, more comfortable ride.

Additionally, it is equipped with posture control technology, which integrates motor, brake, and suspension functions for precise handling and stability.

In terms of interiors, the cabin emphasises passenger entertainment, featuring Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound technology and individual seat displays for an immersive and seamless user experience. The Afeela Personal Agent enables natural voice interactions to control onboard functions.

Sony Honda Mobility has integrated cutting-edge technology such as an 800 TOPS ECU, Snapdragon Digital Chassis, and Unreal Engine 3 for ADAS visualizations.

One of the standout features of this car is its environmentally friendly manufacturing, as 70% of the materials used are plant-derived or recycled. With its innovative features, the Afeela 1 promises to outdo industry leaders such as Tesla and Rivian in the US EV market.

Afeela 1 pricing and availability

The Origin trim of Afeela 1 is available at $89,900, while the Signature trim is priced at $102,900. The Afeela 1 consists of luxury options including 21-inch wheels and a back entertainment system.

Afeela 1 sales are likely to start in California in 2025, with deliveries to begin by second quarter of 2026.
