Spotify has released an updated app for Android Auto, with a redesigned user experience and an exciting new feature called Spotify Jam. Users can access the updated version through the Google Play Store.

The redesigned user interface makes it easier for drivers to listen to their favourite tunes safely and efficiently, allowing for maximum focus on the road.

One of the notable highlights is locating the "Downloaded" section in your library, which is prominently displayed to allow anyone to quickly access their offline songs during a drive, including areas with minimal or no signals.

Another noticeable change is the addition of a floating Search button. Previously, the only way to search in Android Auto was via Google Assistant.

However, every time users would activate the Assistant to search for something, it would automatically start playing the result. That said, now users can merely tap the Search button, type what they are looking for, and select from a list of results displayed on the screen, allowing for more control over the music being played.

However, the most interesting new feature in this update is the functionality of Spotify Jam, which is present on the "Now Playing" screen. Passengers can scan a QR code with their phone and join the queue to easily add music to the current playlist.

It’s designed to let everyone in the car add their favourite tracks, making it perfect for road trips or group drives. The driver stays in control and can easily remove anyone from the Jam session if needed.

This update comes with Spotify version 9.0.58.596 and marks a bigger shift in how Android Auto media apps work. Google has already announced that Amazon Music and YouTube Music will also soon benefit from these new changes.
