
Spotify has been teasing its hi-fi tier music feature for a while, all the while other music providers have already been treating users to richer audio quality. On the UI (user interface) and Music discovery front, Spotify is already miles above the competition, there isn't much debate about that.
The only thing that’s been a a bit of a bummer is how far behind the Swedish streaming giant has fallen behind on the audio quality front, having everyone bank on its promised hi-fi feature which it’s been dangling since 2021.
The truth is that the regular folk won’t notice much of a difference between Spotify’s offerings and those of its competitors.

“There’s a good subset of that group of 246 million subscribers that want a much better version of Spotify,” Ek said at Wednesday’s earnings call. “Those are huge music lovers who are primarily looking for even more flexibility in how they use Spotify and the music capabilities that exist on Spotify.” Exactly.
As music enthusiasts are drawing at the onset of a richer Spotify music experience, the company has been talking about it. Unfortunately, there’s nothing significant capable of grabbing headlines as of now which leaves some in a frustrating dilemma.
