Suzuki has made its entry into the electric vehicle market by launching its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e VITARA. This new model was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. Originally revealed in Milan, Italy, the e VITARA aims to transform electric mobility in India and beyond.
During the press conference, Suzuki’s President emphasised the company’s dedication to understanding the unique needs of Indian customers.
Suzuki is not only launching an electric vehicle but also building a supportive ecosystem to ensure hassle-free BEV adoption.
e VITARA features and design
The e VITARA is a symbol of Suzuki’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. It is designed to meet the increasing demand for eco-friendly transportation. Production of the e VITARA will begin in spring 2025 at Maruti Suzuki’s advanced Gujarat Plant.
However, the sales are expected to start by the summer 2025, targeting major markets such as India, Europe, and Japan.
At the expo, the Indian audience got a first look at the production model of the e VITARA. Suzuki displayed eight vibrant models, along with cut-away vehicles and technical exhibits showcasing the advanced BEV technology, including the innovative eAxle system.
Moreover, Suzuki understands that the success of electric vehicles relies not just on their design and performance but also on the availability of a reliable charging infrastructure.
To address this, Suzuki plans to establish a robust BEV ecosystem in India, leveraging Maruti Suzuki’s extensive sales and service network. This initiative aims to provide a reliable ownership experience, reducing concerns about charging accessibility and range anxiety.
