Threads is reportedly testing a new feature to compete with its rivals X (formerly Twitter) and Bluesky. The Meta-owned platform is developing the ability to add music to posts on Threads as confirmed by the company.

The social media platform has been witnessing an accelerated rollout of high-in-demand features and updates over the past few weeks.

Add music to your posts on Threads

The potential addition of music to Threads posts could be an exciting feature for users looking to add a personal touch and showcase their musical preferences, bringing a nostalgic feel reminiscent of the Myspace era.

However, others might find posts with music to be distracting, potentially leading to a mixed reaction among users.

The feature is not currently available to the public and was first spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who often finds upcoming features while they’re still under development.

It is worth mentioning that the option to add music to posts is already available on other Meta-owned apps such as Facebook and Instagram.

On the sidelines, Threads also announced plans to replace its fact-checkers feature with Community Notes, a feature inspired by Elon Musk-owned platform X. The feature allows users to provide context and additional information without revealing their identity.
