Since excessive use of gadgets has been linked to various diseases, a China-based short video platform has announced to let parents limit teens' screen time with a new feature.

The screen limit announcement follows the video giant's political lashing owing to the claims that excessive TikTok use is disturbing teenagers´ mental health.

As reported by The News, the feature has been scheduled to be rolled out in the EU, followed by the US. It will allow parents to limit their kids' screen time for daily TikTok use, as stated by the ByteDance-owned social media juggernaut in a blog post on its website.

The feature appears to be an imitation of rivals like Meta-owned Instagram, which introduced somewhat the same feature a few months ago.

Regarding exceptions or workarounds to evade this restriction, it was reported that there would be no way to escape the screen time limit feature titled “Time Away” unless the parent disables it from their account.

It's worth mentioning that TikTok has a global user base of over one billion users who regularly watch its short videos. The company also announced that parents in the coming weeks will be able to keep a watch on their teen children's following lists, their followers' lists and the one of blocked accounts.
