In a bid to outclass the Meta-owned Instagram, Chine-based tech giant Bytedance reportedly launched a social media app called Whee earlier this month.
Bearing immense resemblance with Instagram, the app is capable of taking photos and sharing them with friends and family (followers).
Although the rollout of TikTok's Instagram-like is a wider one, the app has been made live in many countries, according to Tech Crunch.

While it only has a very limited user base, what adds to its functionality-centric assimilation with Instagram is the support for photo filters and messaging. Set to advertise the app via Apple's Search Ads, the company's plans for the less famed app are not clear.
Should the app rise to the calibre of popular social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, full-scale endorsement on the internet is a must for the Whee app to make itself prominent in today's hard-fought App Store battle.
The app was sneakily launched on July 18 in more than 71 countries, and because of no promotional push, it failed to make it to the Top Free Apps chart on Apple's App Store.
Being developed by Bytedance, the parent company of TikTok, the Whee app is connected to TikTok, according to its App Store listing.
The latest figures from the App Store indicate that the Whee app could only accumulate a total of 13,000 iOS downloads across the globe. Whereas, 10,000 is the number of downloads it obtained from Android users.
