TikTok users across the US and other regions faced a sudden and confusing disruption on Monday night. Just after 11pm ET many people started reporting issues with the TikTok app, especially when trying to view comments, switch accounts, or use some features.
The TikTok outage didn’t completely shut down the platform. Some videos were still loading, but features like the comments section were either very slow or not working at all.
Many users on Reddit, Twitter, and Bluesky said they thought their accounts had been banned.
Others mentioned that even trying to access the TikTok website or help pages showed an error message saying, “An error occurred while processing your request,” along with a code.
The glitch left many TikTok users confused, especially because the company didn’t share any official statement or reason for the disruption.
Service providers TikTok often uses, like Akamai and Oracle, also didn’t show any major outages on their end.
Meanwhile, Downdetector, a site that tracks outages, received over 44,000 reports before things began returning to normal just after 12am ET.
Furthermore, TikTok is working fine again, and all features seem to be back. While the exact cause of the issue is still unknown, the quick recovery suggests it was likely a technical glitch behind the scenes.
