TikTok, one of the most popular social media apps, recently faced a ban in the United States. Due to this, it was removed from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

However, there is now a new way for Android users in the US to download the app.

TikTok now available for Android users

TikTok announced that Android users in the US can now download the app directly from its official website. This means users can get the app without needing Google Play.

The company also made TikTok Lite available, which is a version of the app designed for slower internet connections. The installation process is simple; just download the APK file, open it, and approve the installation. Many users have already updated their apps quickly through this method.

The reason behind this change is the US government's ban on TikTok, which led to its removal from major app stores. While Apple does not allow sideloading in the US, Android users now have an alternative way to keep using the app.

Moreover, a TikTok help page claims that despite being downloaded outside Google Play, the app remains safe and secure. The company says its source code is regularly reviewed by Oracle and independent security experts.

Additionally, iPhone users can only access TikTok through a web browser. It is unclear when or if the app will return to the App Store or Google Play Store in the US. However, this new option allows Android users to continue enjoying the app without restrictions.
