TikTok is now introducing features that assist users to sleep better. The platform that's all about quick, entertaining content has become a daily routine for millions.
However, TikTok is taking things slow now, intruding upon meditation for sleep as part of its latest updates.
TikTok's safety feature for kids and adults
The concept behind TikTok's safety feature is that if a teenager is browsing late in the evening, later than 10pm, then TikTok will respectfully interrupt the feed. There will be a peaceful screen with soothing music and sleep-guided meditation.
This is TikTok safety for children to remind them to have a break, relax, and get some sleep. If they disregard the initial reminder, TikTok issues an even bigger full-screen notification.
Notably, these new TikTok features were initially tested among teens earlier this year. Now, the meditation feature is being launched for all.
For adults who wish to get the same useful push, it may be manually activated by visiting the app's "Screen Time" settings and selecting their bedtime.
However, it is obvious that TikTok is serious about TikTok safety features. There have been many tools introduced by the company in recent times to safeguard young users, and now this soothing break is the newest one.
The emphasis on TikTok safety for children indicates an increasing concern for the impact of social media on mental health.
TikTok has also given $2.3 million in ad credits to 31 mental health organisations from 19 countries.
