TikTok has released its TikTok Shop Safety Report, revealing a significant crackdown on dangerous and fraudulent products listed on the platform.
The platform shut down over 700,000 shops that violated the rules between January and June 2025, and rejected 1.4 million seller registration applications for not meeting standards.
Over 70 million product listings were blocked in those six months, the majority of which were deemed dangerous or counterfeit, and an additional 200,000 listings were taken down for being prohibited.
According to the company, the screening procedure for new sellers is becoming more stringent.
A rigorous verification process that includes identity documents, proof of business registration, and a probationary period that restricts daily listings and orders until compliance is demonstrated is required of all new merchants.
According to TikTok, users can shop with confidence within the app because it makes the shopping experience transparent and safe.
Because of previous fraud and deceptive advertisements, analysts note that Western consumers have been cautious about social-commerce.
The new actions taken by TikTok are intended to allay those worries and foster enduring confidence.
According to the report, the platform employs a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and human moderation to maintain a clean marketplace, ensuring that 99.5% of violating listings are detected before they ever reach customers.
