In a bid to make the platform safer, TikTok has added new Family Pairing features in Pakistan, giving parents more authority over their teens' online behaviour.
Parents can now link their TikTok account to their child's profile and control settings that encourage responsible and safe use.
Parents can use Family Pairing to select who can access their teen's account, check privacy settings, and get notifications when a public video is uploaded.
Instead of merely limiting access, these tools seek to promote candid discussions about appropriate content, screen time balance, and online conduct.
There are multiple options available on the Family Pairing dashboard. Parents have the ability to control who can send messages or leave comments on posts, set daily screen time limits, schedule reminders for breaks, and modify account visibility and video download permissions.
To encourage better sleep, notifications are paused at night, and direct messaging is disabled by default for users under the age of sixteen.
Teens under the age of eighteen are automatically limited to 60 minutes of screen time per day, and content is filtered in accordance with age-appropriate standards.
Additionally, TikTok has introduced Guided Meditation Mode, a feature that offers users relaxing exercises to help them relax at night. It encourages healthier digital habits in teens by turning on automatically after 10pm.
All of these changes are intended to foster a more secure and nurturing atmosphere where families can feel safe and creativity can flourish.
