It's crystal clear that kids have never been more interested in smartphones, computers and social media, but do you ever wonder what are the top apps kids are more inclinded towards? This is what Kaspersky, a global cybersecurity firm, has unravelled in its annual report.
Kaspersky announced on Wednesday that the top five Android apps among children in Pakistan are YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, and Roblox.
The finding comes from the company's annual report on kids’ digital interests, covering the period from May 2024 to April 2025, which outlines the growing interest in artificial intelligence-powered chatbots.
YouTube remains the most popular app globally for children, whereas WhatsApp has surpassed TikTok to claim second place. In Pakistan, children spend 42.90% of their time on YouTube, followed by WhatsApp at 16.07%, Instagram at 8.97%, TikTok at 5.88%, and Roblox at 4.44%.
The report also indicates a significant uptick in interest in AI tools, with "Character.AI" entering the top apps list. Over 7.5% of all search queries were related to AI chatbots, with popular names like ChatGPT and Gemini leading the searches. This signifies a surge from 3.19% in the previous year.
Moreover, almost 18% of online queries by children were focused on streaming platforms. YouTube use rose from 28.13% to 29.77%, while WhatsApp's increased to 14.72%, surpassing TikTok at 12.76%.
These findings suggests that children are more prone to using chat apps to share content with friends.
