
Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) has introduced an upgraded version of the GR Corolla in Japan, bringing improved performance and a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
The new model, inspired by Toyota’s motorsport experience, offers better handling, faster acceleration, and enhanced cooling.

A major highlight of the GR Corolla upgrade is the addition of the 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission (GR-DAT). This new transmission was used in the GR Yaris as it delivers quicker shifts and improved driving control, making it ideal for both track and everyday driving.

The Japanese-spec GR Corolla was first announced in the US in August 2024, it comes with several innovative features that suit the local market. Additionally, the car’s interior offers a more premium and sporty design.
Moreover, the new Circuit Mode is designed for use at select racing tracks in Japan. This mode activates anti-lag control, raises the speed limiter, and transforms the instrument panel into a dedicated recording display via a special app. The advanced screen provides real-time driving data, helping drivers optimise their on-track performance.
Toyota GR Corolla upgrade options and launch details
Toyota is also offering upgrade kits for current GR Corolla owners, allowing them to integrate the latest performance enhancements. These kits include recommended parts and installation sequences to maintain optimal vehicle balance.
The updated Toyota GR Corolla orders can be placed starting February 4, with the official launch scheduled for March 3.
