What if you're given an emulator that would turn a computer into a machine capable of running graphically challenging software and games? Sounds good, right?

Well, much better has been developed and is coming to serve iPhone owners in the form of an app.

The wave-making development we're referring to is UTM SE, an iOS app developed to emulate a computer to run classic software and games.

Earlier, the iPhone maker had rejected and prevented the UTM SE app from being authenticated for third-party App Stores in the European Union.

Apple has approved UTM SE, an app for emulating a computer to run classic software and games, weeks after the company rejected it and barred it from being notarized for third-party app stores in the European Union. The app is now available for free for iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS.

After being suppressed by the iPhone maker in June this year, the developers of UTM SE developer stated that it had no plans to go ahead with an app that delivers “a subpar experience.”

Contrary to its earlier remarks, UTM today expressed profound gratitude to the AltStore team for its utmost support while commending and crediting another developer “whose QEMU TCTI implementation was pivotal for this JIT-less build.”

Still, unlike other emulating apps on the App Store, the UTM SE isn't capable of doing much as it isn't backed by any operating systems. Given that, it connects to UTM's site having instructions for Windows XP through Windows 11 emulation, and downloads of pre-built virtual Linux machines.
